We are Reviewing the Situation

S.O.N.G.

A lot has happened since we had to cancel our production of Jekyll & Hyde due to the pandemic.

It has been two years of Zoom Quiz Nights, Interviews and Q&A’s with some of the West End and Broadway’s Leading Performers including Killian Donnelly who is currently playing The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera and Bradley Jaden who is currently playing Javert in Les Miserables.

Of course, the most memorable was a live Interview and Q&A with Claude-Michel Schonberg, Composer of Les Miserables and Miss Saigon.

There has been videos recorded and released, a streamed concert & a live concert both from An Táin Arts Centre and a concert recently in Dundalk Golf Club.

Covid may have stopped us from getting Jekyll on stage but what happened instead was two years of being creative and ensuring we stayed in touch with each other and enjoyed what we love doing, even if it was in a different way to what we had been use to.

Now its time to reflect and look back, as well as looking forward and for me it is the perfect time to do just that after all we have been through in the past two years. It's time to be proud of all that we have achieved over the past 16 years before we start planning the future for S.O.N.G.

Of course I wanted to do something a little different and thanks to Andrew, Ultan and Patrick, we have a new and exciting format. It will be an Audio, Visual and Live performance Concert in The Crowne Plaza Hotel. Over 60 past and present members of S.O.N.G. are getting together to look back over the past 16 years of S.O.N.G. and pay tribute to the twelve Musicals they have performed in that Time. Oliver, Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Jekyll & Hyde, Chess, Joseph, The Pirate Queen, Little Women, Sweeney Todd, Evita , The Wizard of Oz and Annie.

Over the past two years, talk of past shows featured a lot and stories of memories we all had were spoken about. For this production, we are bringing a mix of footage & recordings from our shows, filmed interviews with some of our cast and crew and live performances of songs from the musicals.

And what a great name “Reviewing the Situation” !

So the program is constantly being updated and rehearsals are commencing next Sunday 27th March.

I must admit, nerves are creeping in, suddenly you are back doing all the work that goes into any live performance and the fear of not remembering how, or feeling you may not be able to do it are there.

I think two years of the pandemic has affected us all in all sorts of ways and for me ,it is a lack of confidence in myself that I have the ability to bring all of the elements together to make a show a success. That I find the hardest and strangest feeling to deal with.

But S.O.N.G. has a fantastic core group of people in our production team and also in our cast.

People who have been with me since day one and after 16 years, are as loyal to me now, as they were then.

So I promise anyone attending our show, it will be a very special night.

It will take place in The Crowne Plaza Hotel on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd April 2022 @ 8pm, cabaret style seating will limit the available tickets to 175 per night.

Here's to another successful show by S.O.N.G.

Join us as we "unmask" and "review our situation".
